Leon Goretzka leads emotional Bayern Munich stars paying tribute to ‘great man’ Julian Nagelsmann

Leon Goretzka has led the Bayern Munich stars to show respect for Julian Nagelsmann after the 35-year-old was sacked on Friday, and Thomas Tuchel was introduced as his replacement on Saturday morning.

Goretzka led the tributes to his outgoing boss with a post on your instagram accounthighlighting the ‘trust, fun and mutual appreciation’ present in Nagelsmann’s time at the helm.

‘Thank you very much for your cooperation. A cooperation that has always been characterized by trust, fun and mutual appreciation.

‘You are a great person and coach whom we all wish from the bottom of our hearts only the best. It is up to us to complete your job successfully. Thanks for everything!’

Meanwhile, Benjamin Pavard was more to the point in his farewell message, writing on Instagram: “Thanks for the ride Coach, I wish you the best.”

Dayot Upamecano made his debut with the Bavarian club during Nagelsmann’s time at the helm and likewise expressed good wishes to his former coach: “Thank you for all coach, I wish you the best for the future.”

Nagelsmann was ruthlessly sacked by the Bundesliga champions, with the news confirmed to him during a 61-minute crisis meeting with the club’s board.

The 35-year-old boss was photographed leaving Saebener Strasse, the home of the Bundesliga giants in southern Germany, just over an hour after arriving and his destination, as well as his successor, was made public shortly afterwards with Tuchel, who coached Nagelsmann at FC Augsburg , succeeding it.

The club is currently just one point out of top spot in the Bundesliga, and rivals Borussia Dortmund are on course to end their ten-match winning streak in the top flight.
