The event was to celebrate Campbell Addy’s ‘I Love Campbell’ exhibition and was organized by Dazed editor Ib Kamara.

It comes after Leomie previously urged designers to hire more black makeup artists after revealing she was forced to do her own makeup during Fashion Week because estheticians left her feeling like she was “working in a mine.”

The star, who was born in London to Jamaican parents, shared a behind-the-scenes video at the Christian Cowan Show during New York Fashion Week, which she walked into last year.

In the clip, which has been viewed more than 250,000 times, Leomie revealed that she always carries a full makeup kit with her because “garbage” makeup artists made her look “slapped” — a slang term meaning ugly.

In the video, dubbed “the reality of being a black model during fashion week,” the model shares a clip of her makeup while adding the caption, “I asked who could do black makeup, why do I look like I work in the mines?’.

She went on to say she looked “clapped” as she shared footage of herself removing her makeup, adding the caption, “I told him it wasn’t my color, he sucks.”

Leomie then said hairdressers “hurt” her when she posted a clip of her telling her to wash her hair.

“No one dried it to the last minute,” she continued, before adding that another makeup artist was trying to fix her makeup.
