Leigh Sales announces her return to television as the presenter of ABC’s Australian Story, six months after her shock departure from The 7.30 report

Leigh Sales will return to television as the presenter of ABC’s Australian Story on February 27.

The celebrated journalist will host the weekly half-hour documentary series famous for profiling Australians and their challenging life stories.

Sales, 49, shocked viewers when she announced her resignation as host of the national network’s The 7.30 Report in February of last year.

Sarah Ferguson, who replaced Sales, will continue to host The 7.30 Report.

In the meantime, tv black box reports that ABC will launch a new season of its flagship current affairs program Four Corners on January 30.

And after a troubled year of declining ratings, the station’s themed panel show, Q&A, will also return on January 30 hosted by Stan Grant.

It comes after Sales left his high-profile job. as host of ABC’s 7.30 on June 30.

The celebrated journalist shocked her fans last February when she announced that she was quitting her high-profile job as the host of The 7.30 Report.

He later revealed that he would use his six months of long-service leave to “get some rest” and spend quality time with his two young children.

Caroline Jones was the original presenter of Australian Story but sadly died in May at the age of 84 after a fall at her Sydney home.

The show has been without a host since 2016 after Jones left and was using the show’s talent from each week to present the story.

Sales will host the weekly half-hour documentary series famous for profiling Australians and their challenging life stories.

The new sales anchor job was first announced on ABC’s Upfronts last November and the popular star said it was an honor to join Jones as host of the show.

“Australian Story is one of the country’s most beloved shows and I am very excited and honored to have been invited to host it,” said Sales.

“I can’t wait to get involved in the production process of such a talented team.”

Sales later revealed that he would use his six months of long-service leave after his last 7:30 Report on June 30 to “get some rest” and spend quality time with his two young children.
