Leigh head coach Adrian Lam was proud of his players after his 12-man side defeated winless Wakefield 30-4 at Magic Weekend in Newcastle.
Lachlan Lam scored a string of tries as Leigh extended their winning run to seven games in all competitions and moved up to fourth in the Super League.
But they were forced to do so with a player out for most of the game after Ben Reynolds was sent off in the 26th minute for punching David Fifita.
At one point, Leigh was down to 11 men when Tom Nisbet was sent off 10 minutes before the break and Lam described his side’s defense in that period as ‘incredible’.
“You can plan all week on the opposition, but if you go back to 12 men for 60 minutes, it changes completely,” Lam said.

Edwin Pape scored as Leigh Wakefield beat 30-4 at St James’ Park in Newcastle
“Up to 11 men with the last 10 minutes before the break where we defended our line, I thought that was a very special moment for us as a club.”
In the other Magic Weekend fixtures on Sunday, Tommy Makinson scored four tries and secured 28 points as St Helens beat Huddersfield 48-6 to make their usual late push for Super League glory.
The reigning champions progress to the final play-off spot in sixth, level with Hull KR who have played one game more.
And Josh Griffin’s hat-trick saw Hull fight back from 12-6 down at half time to beat Warrington 30-18 to keep them within four points of the play-off places.
