Leicester seal Conor Coady deal after agreeing £8.5m package with Wolves
Leicester agree initial £7.5m deal with Wolves for Conor Coady – and £1m extra if they are promoted – with medical set taking place today
- Coady was loaned out to Everton last season, who decided not to sign him
- Now Leicester hope to bring the 30-year-old to the King Power Stadium
- The Foxes want to strengthen themselves defensively after their relegation from the Premier League
Leicester have agreed to pay Wolves £7.5m with a further £1m if promoted for defender Conor Coady, 30, who will undergo a medical on Thursday.
Coady spent last season on loan at Everton, who decided not to take up the £4.5 million option to sign him after beating the Foxes to survive in the Premier League.
The England defender therefore left Goodison Park at the end of his loan and will now return to Wolves this summer.
However, Leicester are hoping to get him away from Molineux, despite the fact that an initial offer has been rejected.
It was believed a fee of £4.5 million would have been enough to secure a deal, but Wolves are demanding £7.5 million upfront for their veteran centre-back.

Coady helped Everton beat Leicester to Premier League safety on loan at the club last season
And Leicester have agreed to pay just that, along with an extra £1 million if they seal an immediate return to the Premier League next season.
Coady made 25 appearances for Everton, scoring two goals and excelling in their 1–0 victory over Bournemouth on the final day as they avoided relegation.
But he hadn’t started any of the previous 13 games when Sean Dyche dropped him to play first Michael Keane and then Yerry Mina.
The player has previously been highly regarded by Gareth Southgate and England, having been part of the European Championship squad that lost to Italy in the Wembley final.
Coady has been capped 10 times for his country, scoring one goal in that time, although he has slipped slightly in the pecking order since Euro 2021.
Leicester are also battling Southampton for Swansea striker Joel Piroe.
And on Wednesday they said goodbye to James Maddison after the midfielder moved to Tottenham Hotspur for £ 45 million.
