According to reports, Leicester City have contacted Graham Potter over their vacant managerial position.

The former Brighton and Chelsea manager has been out of work since being asked by the Blues midway through the 2022/23 season, although he has been linked with a return several times.

He had been strongly linked with taking over Ajax at the end of the 2023/24 season, but reports emerged that he had rejected the Dutch giants.

Now he has been linked with a return to English football and the Premier League, with the Foxes looking for a new manager following the departure of Enzo Maresca.

Ironically, Maresca left Leicester for Chelsea, and according to Fabrizio Romano, Potter is considered a ‘serious candidate’.

The report claims that the Foxes have contacted Potter and that they consider the 49-year-old to be a serious candidate.

Potter has also been linked with the England job, with Gareth Southgate’s future after the European Championship still up in the air.

Potter is available, but his inactivity since being sacked by Chelsea in April 2023 could work against him.

Leicester, meanwhile, are looking to cement their return to the Premier League after a surprise relegation in 2022/23.

Maresca’s side swept through the Championship, finishing on 97 points with 31 wins from 46 games, but the Italian was quickly snapped up by Chelsea after Mauricio Pochettino left the Stamford Bridge club by mutual consent.

Key to that success was, of course, club legend Jamie Vardy, who scored 20 times and will certainly continue to play a crucial role for the King Power as they return to the top flight at the first time of asking.

Vardy has since signed a one-year contract extension, taking his stay with the Foxes into a 13th season.
