Luke Thomas has been recalled by Leicester City from his loan contract with Sheffield United.

The leaders in the Championship League are flying so far after their relegation from the top division.

The Blades, meanwhile, have failed to find their feet in the Premier League and remain in the relegation zone.

Thomas, 22, has made just 12 appearances in this competition for Sheffield United so far and his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

The left-back may have hoped to get more playing time following the sacking of Paul Heckingbottom, but that has not been the case.

Blades fans will be hoping Chris Wilder’s return to the club will be a successful one this time as they aim to stay in the Premier League.

Thomas played 85 games for Leicester, but did not feature in the first four Championship games of the season.

Last week it was announced that Sheffield United had loaned striker Ben Brereton Díaz from Villarreal for the rest of the season.

The 24-year-old, who joined La Liga in the summer after his contract with Blackburn expired, will be hoping to hit the ground running.
