Leicester are showing strong interest in signing Brazilian winger Tête, and Brendan Rodgers’s side are one of several clubs looking to snap up the prolific left-footer who is currently on loan at Lyon.

  • Leicester are one of several clubs considering signing Brazilian winger Tête.
  • The 22-year-old is currently on loan at Lyon and has scored six goals in 17 games.
  • Lyon have an option to buy him from parent club Shakhtar for £17.5m
  • But it is unclear if they will, as Tête is now interested in a Premier League move.

Brazilian winger Tête is aiming to move into the Premier League this month with Leicester among the clubs showing strong interest in the Lyon player.

Tête is currently on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk but is believed to be available in this window if terms can be agreed with both the Ukrainian club and Lyon.

Lyon have the option to sign Tête for £17.5m, but it is unclear if the French club, which is having a turbulent season, intend to activate it.

Leicester is awaiting the availability of Brazilian winger Tête, on loan at Lyon

Brendan Rodgers’ team have scouted Tête before, while Everton are also monitoring the player.

Leicester have scouted Tête before as he was looking to occupy a problematic position on the right side of their attack.

He has played 17 times in Ligue 1, producing six goals and three assists. He is also left-footed, which allows him to cut from the wing to score or create.

The struggling Foxes will add more players to their squad this month after signing Danish left-back Victor Kristiansen for £17m from FC Copenhagen, but they are not the only club showing interest in Tête. Both Everton and Nottingham Forest are aiming for a wide player and Tête is also on their list.

Lyon have the option to buy the wide player, who could be available to them for £17.5m.

But it is not clear if they want to activate that part of the Shakhtar player’s loan.

Leicester are also interested in signing a central defender, with Stoke’s Harry Souttar believed to be a priority.

After Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Brighton, which left Leicester just one point above the relegation zone, manager Brendan Rodgers said: “We need to improve in the squad to bring in technically better players.”

Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanprabha added: “Adding the team during the current transfer window has been a high priority for us.”
