Leicester would be interested in learning about Graham Potter’s immediate plans following his sacking by Chelsea.
Potter was sacked on Sunday, the same day Leicester showed Brendan Rodgers the door, after just seven months at Stamford Bridge. But he was admired by the Leicester hierarchy long before he moved to Chelsea.
It’s unclear if Potter would want to get back on the horse, but if Leicester survive this season, they’ll probably be top of their long-term list.
Rodgers was told his four-year reign would end in a meeting at the £90m club’s luxurious training venue on Sunday morning, following Leicester’s terrible performance in losing 2-1 at Crystal Palace.
Sportsmail was the first to indicate on its social media channels that Rodgers was on borrowed time and an announcement was made around 1:30 p.m.
Graham Potter has been sacked as Chelsea manager after a disastrous six-month spell.
Leicester are interested in learning about his immediate plans following the remarkable news on Sunday.
Now Srivaddhanaprabha, known as Khun Top, is on his way to Leicester and can attend Tuesday’s home clash against Aston Villa, with first-team manager Adam Sadler and goalkeeping coach Mike Stowell in charge on an interim basis.
Rodgers, 50, had a compensation clause worth around £10m written into the five-and-a-half-year deal he signed in December 2019, but with his departure described as a “mutual agreement”, the exact nature of the agreement is unclear.
Khun Top and his senior colleagues, chief executive Susan Whelan and director of soccer Jon Rudkin, are not believed to yet have a definitive idea of Rodgers’ successor. Sadler and Stowell may stay in office if they oversee an immediate improvement.
Brendan Rodgers had been sacked as Leicester City manager following Saturday’s loss to Crystal Palace.
Rafael Benítez, Jesse Marsch and Ralph Hasenhuttl have led teams to Premier League safety, while Adi Hutter, the former boss of Borussia Monchengladbach, would be an option in left field.
Khun Top never wanted to sack Rodgers, but with the club slipping into the bottom three after the setback at Selhurst Park, he felt he had no choice.
“We believed that continuity and stability would be key to correcting our course, particularly given our previous achievements under Brendan,” he said.
“Unfortunately, the desired improvement has not occurred and with 10 games remaining in the season, the board is forced to take alternative measures to protect our Premier League status.”
The former Liverpool and Celtic manager is one of the best in Leicester’s history, leading them to the FA Cup in 2021, as well as a fifth straight finish and a first European semi-final.
Khun Top added: “We experienced some of our greatest football moments under Brendan’s guidance and we will always be grateful to him and his staff for the heights they helped us reach.” His place in Leicester history is assured.
