Finally the time has come: Summer Game Fest 2024 has officially launched and new game announcements are coming in quickly. The first game revealed during the live event was Lego Horizon Adventuresa Lego version of the hugely popular Horizon franchise being developed in collaboration between Guerrilla Games and Studio Gobo.

Contrary to his inspiration, Lego Horizon Adventures is a breezy top-down adventure rather than an expansive third-person open-world action title. It will feature a world made entirely of Lego bricks and populated by mysterious wandering machines. In a retelling of the plot of Horizon zero dawnthe game’s hero, Aloy, is found as a baby in a cave by the outcast hunter Rost, who raises and guides her.

As an adult, she discovers a mysterious ancient hologram that guides her on a dangerous quest across the land. It was described by Summer Game Fest host Geoff Keighley as a “playful, light-hearted story inspired by the world of Horizon‘which is designed with an emphasis on two-player co-op via both split-screen and online play.

The announcement trailer showed some of this co-op in action, with two characters working together to defeat a giant mechanical boss. It also gave us a first look at some of the game’s customizations, which will let you decorate the in-game village of Mother’s Heart and choose from a wide variety of fun outfits for your avatar. A release date has been officially confirmed and the game will be released during the holiday season later this year. In a rather unprecedented decision for a Sony-published title, the game will release not only on PlayStation 5, but also on Nintendo Switch and PC.
