Epic Games quietly fixed a glitch in Lego Fortnite on Tuesday, a change that players say makes the survival game “unplayable” based on how the durability of tools and weapons work.
In Lego Fortnite, tools such as pickaxes and swords will degrade when used when searching for materials or in battle against enemies. Those items can be recreated at your base, but players have found a more convenient solution to durability: they can put some degraded tools in a small chest, smash that chest, and then regain their tools at full durability. Crushing a small chest was a small price to pay; they only cost six planks, a simple recipe in Lego Fortnite.
Epic has fixed the chest repair issue without giving players a legitimate solution for repairing their tools. Players are lamenting the bug fix and dreading the thought of having to carry multiple copies of tools that will eat up their precious inventory slots. For some of Lego Fortnite's lengthy supply runs or for underground exploration, the lack of tool repair is a real problem, some players say.
Reactions to the solution to the breast problem were varied. Some have complained that Lego Fortnite is now “basically unplayable,” or too much hassle. Others have simply argued that problems need to be fixed and that equilibrium changes in the game's economy can happen later. Other players have suggested solutions such as carry-along repair kits or fast travel options to make returning to base less time-consuming.
Lego Fortnite is still in its infancy, and after a huge launch that impressed players with its size, some pain points are starting to become apparent. Epic Games has said that what players have experienced so far in Lego Fortnite is “just the beginning of the adventure,” and it promises updates.
