Bay Area rap legend E-40, also known as Earl Stevens, has claimed that “racial bias” was the reason he was kicked out of Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center during the fourth quarter of Saturday night’s Kings-Warriors game.

E-40 posted a statement on social media on Sunday morning conveying his version of events when a video emerged on social media of him arguing with security and other fans while being removed.

“I was the victim of a disrespectful argument during the Warriors-Kings game in Sacramento,” E-40 wrote in the statement.

“During the fourth quarter, I finally turned around and addressed a heckler in an assertive yet polite manner. But soon after, Kings security approached me, assumed I was the instigator of the encounter, and started kicking me out of the arena.

Sadly, it was yet another reminder that – despite my success and accolades as a musician and entrepreneur – racial prejudice still reigns.

“Security saw a disagreement between a black man and a white woman and immediately assumed I was at fault.

“I was absolutely humiliated by the Kings’ security team and I am calling on the franchise to investigate the appalling behavior that occurred.”

The “Tell Me When to Go” artist is from Vallejo, CA. born and known for his passion for the hometown Warriors and San Francisco Giants.

Golden State couldn’t win on Saturday night, losing 126-123 as Sacramento won its first playoff game in 17 years.

The Warriors have a chance to tie the series at 1-1 at the same stadium on Monday night. Whether E-40 will be back in the house is not yet clear.

The full statement from the E-40

On Saturday night at the Warriors-Kings game in Sacramento, I was disrespectfully harassed. In the fourth quarter, I finally turned around and addressed a heckler in an assertive yet polite manner.

But soon after, Kings security approached me, assumed I was the instigator of the encounter, and started kicking me out of the arena. Unfortunately, it was yet another reminder that – despite my success and accolades as a musician and entrepreneur – racial prejudice still reigns.

Security saw a disagreement between a black man and a white woman and immediately assumed I was at fault. I have attended countless NBA games throughout my life and have always prided myself on my professionalism, so this experience was shocking.

I was absolutely humiliated by the Kings security team and I am calling on the franchise to investigate the appalling behavior that occurred. I am truly grateful to my fans and supporters for reaching out to express their concern and disappointment at these dire circumstances and I hope those involved are held accountable for their behaviour.
