Legacy Way tunnel crash: Ex-police officer identified as one of two killed in horror crash in Brisbane
A former police officer has been identified as one of two people killed in a horror three-vehicle crash in a major city tunnel.
Bruce Daley, in his 50s, was killed in a collision in Brisbane’s Legacy Way Tunnel at Mount Coot-Tha shortly after 3pm on Wednesday.
A woman in her 20s, who was a passenger in a silver sedan, was also killed.
The female driver of the sedan remains in critical condition after undergoing surgery at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
The truck driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Mr Daley was traveling north in the tunnel in a black Audi S3 when it collided with the silver sedan, which then crashed into a truck.
Witnesses claimed the Audi was traveling at 125mph for just a few seconds before crashing into the sedan. Courier mail reports.

“I was driving behind the Audi… for some reason (the driver) slowed down and stopped as we entered the tunnel,” they told the publication.
‘(The driver) did not indicate or activate any hazards… I signaled around him and continued driving… a few people beeped at him.’
The witness heard a ‘car engine roaring’ as the Audi passed them, before seeing ‘smoke and debris flying’ 20 seconds later.
The witness added that despite efforts by the public and paramedics, there was “not much to do” for the injured.
It is understood that Mr Daley left the police force ten years ago.
The horror accident closed the major city tunnel for hours on Wednesday.
More to come.
