Leeds United have sent Djed Spence back to Tottenham after activating a break clause to pause his loan move.

The 23-year-old full-back has made just seven Championship appearances after being hampered by a knee injury since joining on a season-long loan in August.

Spence suffered the injury during training not long after his arrival in the summer.

He missed 12 league games before returning to action in Leeds' 2-0 win against Blackburn in December.

The right-back joined Tottenham from Middlesbrough for £20m in 2022 before being loaned out to French side Rennes for the second half of last season.

Despite missing a string of games between August and November, Spence featured in six of Leeds' last seven matches.

His return to north London will be a bonus for Ange Postecoglou, whose side have struggled with several injuries to key defenders in recent times.

Cristian Romero has been ruled out for an extended period due to a hamstring injury, while Micky van de Ven only returned to training this week after a soft tissue injury.

Spence will now return to Tottenham, who signed him from Middlesbrough for £20m in 2022

Spurs had held talks to sign the defender in December and he could be worth around £35million.
