His return to Wigan will see him play for the club he joined at the age of ten.

Gelhardt’s appearances have been limited this season under Jesse Marsch.

Gelhardt joined Wigan at the age of ten and stayed with the club until 2020 when he joined Leeds.

Gelhardt signed his first professional contract with the club in 2018 and made his debut in April 2019, scoring his first senior goal in September of that year.

He made 19 appearances in all competitions that season, before leaving the club after Wigan were relegated from the Championship after a 12-point penalty pushed them into the relegation places.
