Leeds United have asked about loan deals for Leicester City left-back Luke Thomas and Djed Spence from Tottenham.

The Championship side are keen to increase their options at fullback following their relegation from the top flight, despite retaining Junior Firpo and Luke Ayling and signing former Norwich star Sam Byram this summer.

Leeds endured a mixed run of results to start the Championship season, winning once, losing and drawing twice under Daniel Farke.

Goal leaks continue to be a problem for the Yorkshire club following their relegation, with Leeds conceding seven goals in just four games.

Farke’s side won a thrilling 4-3 draw at Ipswich last weekend and took on Sheffield Wednesday at the bottom of the table on Saturday.

The Championship team have also opened talks with Leicester over a loan deal for Luke Thomas

Manchester City academy graduate Callum Doyle has been preferred to Thomas at left-back at Leicester so far this season, prompting Leeds to ask about the 22-year-old’s availability.

Meanwhile, Djed Spence has struggled with playing time at Tottenham since moving from Middlesbrough to North London last summer.

The 23-year-old star appears to be Ange Postecoglou’s third-choice right-back as both Pedro Porro and Emerson Royal have already started Premier League matches this season.

Spence excelled during the 2021-2022 season while on loan at Nottingham Forest, recording two goals and five assists during Steve Cooper’s promotion season in the Championship.
