LeBron James teases retirement after agreeing new $104million Lakers deal to play alongside son Bronny in LA

LeBron James has admitted he may retire soon despite agreeing to a new $104 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The 39-year-old basketball legend has extended his stay in LA after being joined by his son Bronny, who was selected 55th overall by the Lakers in the second round of last month’s NBA Draft.

Just days after Bronny’s historic moment, reports surfaced that his father had also imposed new terms on the franchise, after opting out of the final year of his previous contract.

LeBron will remain a Lakers player for the next two years and make history by teaming up with his eldest son to form the NBA’s first-ever father-son duo.

However, he has also hinted that this deal could be his last as an NBA player.

When asked by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin If that could be the case, LeBron responded, “I mean, it could be.”

“I would never sit here and say, ‘Oh, uh, maybe not.’”

‘Yes, that could be possible. Easy. But we’ll see what happens.’

Bronny enters the NBA with enormous pressure on his shoulders as the son of one of the greatest players the game has ever seen.

The 19-year-old isn’t expected to reach the same heights as his father, having only played one year of college basketball at USC.

However, according to LeBron, his son will be getting his hands on a weapon he didn’t have when he first came on the scene.

“I don’t know if people really understand Bronny,” the four-time NBA champion said. “He doesn’t care. I kind of care.”

“When I came here (as a newcomer), I wanted people to like me. Some of the things people said about me bothered me at the beginning of my career… he doesn’t give a damn.

“He doesn’t care about anybody. He doesn’t even listen to that stuff. He’s the coolest. He’s the complete opposite of his dad.

“His dad will say something (to address the critics). Bro doesn’t care… anything that’s said about him, he really doesn’t care.”
