LeBron James speaks out on NBA future after the Lakers’ playoff elimination by the Denver Nuggets
LeBron James spoke out on Monday night about his future following the LA Lakers’ exit from the playoffs.
The Lakers were defeated 108-106 by the Nuggets in the final seconds on Monday night, condemning them to a 4-1 series loss and ending their playoff hopes for another year.
After his 30-point return failed to get LA over the line, LeBron declined to give a definitive answer about his future in the City of Angels during his post-game press conference.
However, he took to social media on Tuesday evening to break his silence somewhat and reveal that he has not yet made an official decision.
“I’ve seen and heard a lot of messages about my future,” he posted on X on Tuesday evening. “I said it last night and I’ll say it again. I don’t know yet because all I’m thinking about is spending time with my family and friends!

The Lakers legend took to social media on Tuesday evening to somewhat break his silence
“When I know after talking to the family, my counselor and my representation about it, then you will know.”
LeBron had remained just as cagey when questioned about his next steps during his post-game press conference on Monday.
When asked, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer only suggested he had some thinking to do over the summer.
When asked if there was any thought that Monday’s game would be his last against the Lakers, the 39-year-old paused before saying, “Um, I’m not going to answer that.”
LeBron may get the chance to play with his son Bronny if he continues his career next season, after the 19-year-old recently declared his entry into the NBA Draft and transfer portal.
The Lakers are open to the idea of drafting Bronny, who played one season at USC, in an effort to convince LeBron to stay in Los Angeles for another year, it was reported earlier on Tuesday.
LeBron, who turns 40 in December, has repeatedly said he wants to end his career alongside Bronny.
However, after four straight playoff disappointments in LA, the all-time basketball great could revive his chances at a fifth NBA championship ring with a new franchise next season.
LeBron decided not to answer a question about his future with the Lakers after Monday night’s loss
The Lakers are reportedly interested in drafting Bronny if it means it will satisfy his father
“I just want to go home to the family, honestly, and look at the schedule,” James said when asked if he has thought about what comes next.
“Obviously one of my boys is trying to decide whether to enter the draft or go back to school, I have another kid who plays Uball now, my daughter plays volleyball and my wife does so many great things.
“So now it’s about family and in a few months I have to go to Vegas for training camp.”
LeBron spent the past six seasons with the Lakers and won the NBA championship in 2020.
Prior to his time in LA, the legendary forward rose to fame with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat, winning two rings with the latter and one with the former.
Knowing a win was necessary to keep their playoff hopes alive in Denver, LeBron scored 30 points as he desperately tried to pull the Lakers through while trailing 3-1 in the first round.
But in the end, his efforts weren’t enough as Jamal Murray’s 32-point return – including a crucial two-pointer near the death – was enough to win Game 5 for the defending champion Nuggets and book their place in the Conference Semifinals. .
