LeBron James shared a brief moment with Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.

After leading the Los Angeles Lakers in breaking the New York Knicks’ nine-game win streak, James was captured talking to Hamlin on the way back to the locker room.

The meeting came six months after Hamlin showed his support for James’ family when his son, Bronny, went into cardiac arrest during a training session with the USC Trojans. In January 2023, Hamlin also suffered cardiac arrest in the middle of a game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Both have since recovered and returned to their respective sports.

“How’s Bronny doing, brother?” Hamlin asked James after they shared a handshake and a hug.

“Great man, great man, appreciate it” James replied as they had a quick conversation.

James reached out to Hamlin’s family when the Bills safety went into cardiac arrest in 2023

After his terrifying collapse against the Bengals, Hamlin decided to continue playing after making a full recovery. When Bronny went into cardiac arrest in July, Hamlin said he wanted to support the USC freshman, while the James family supported him during his recovery.

“Honestly, a super big memory,” Hamlin said in August. ‘It put everything back into perspective for me. But prayers out to (James) and prayers out to his family.”

“They have also been very supportive and helpful in reaching out to my family. So I just want to be able to pass that on to them,” Hamlin added. “And I wanted to let him know that I will be there for whatever he needs on his journey, as far as his recovery and getting back to his sport, if that’s what he wants to do.”

James led the Lakers to a 113-105 victory, snapping the New York Knicks’ nine-game win streak

With the Bills’ season over, Hamlin made it to the Big Apple this weekend to attend events for the American Heart Association. After the festivities, Hamlin watched as James and the Lakers took on the surging Knicks.

The Lakers spoiled the Knicks’ party by snapping their nine-game winning streak in front of their home fans. James led the way with 24 points, five rebounds and five assists in the 113-105 win.

Austin Reaves contributed 22 points, six rebounds and seven assists, while Anthony Davis scored a double-double with 12 points and 18 boards.

Despite the impressive win, the Lakers are in ninth place in the Western Conference nearly halfway through the season with a 26–25 record.
