LeBron James will turn 40 halfway through the next NBA season, and his agent and close friend Rich Paul revealed how long he thinks the Lakers superstar has left in the league.
James hasn’t shown many physical signs of slowing down, averaging 25.7 points this past season, good enough for 13th in the NBA.
But with the possible arrival of 19-year-old son Bronny and James’ own contract status, there’s a lot up in the air for one of the greatest players of all time.
Paul revealed on the Podcast ‘All the Smoke’ that he believes James has five years left in the NBA “physically speaking.”
Mentally, Paul thinks James’ remaining abilities are slightly shorter, an estimated “2-3 years.”
The Lakers season ended in the first round of the playoffs, losing to the Nuggets in five games
Paul was last seen in public with famous singer Adele during a Lakers game against Denver
Paul has been dating singer Adele for more than two years, with the ‘Rolling in the Deep’ artist all but confirming that the pair now got married last year.
James will be assigned season No. 22 in the NBA and he has until June to make a decision about next year.
He can opt for a $51.4 million deal, the second year of a $99 million contract he signed before this season. Or James could become a free agent and possibly play for a fourth NBA team.
James’ offseason will be busy helping Bronny with his next step, which could be returning to college or joining his father in the NBA.
James was also one of dozens of players called up to the United States Olympic team this summer in Paris.
