Leaked Samsung Galaxy S23 renders show an uninspiring selection of colors

>

We’ve previously heard from multiple sources that the Samsung Galaxy S23 series might only come in four shades, but we hadn’t seen what all those colors actually looked like, but maybe we know now.

Yummy Snoopy Tech (opens in new tab) has shared renders of the Samsung Galaxy S23 and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra in all four rumored colors – namely, Cotton Flower (a cream shade), Misty Lilac, Botanic Green, and Phantom Black.

If this leak – and others – is correct, and those two phones come in those colours, then the Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus probably would too, although that phone isn’t pictured here.

We would of course take these renders with a grain of salt, but the source does claim to have ‘confirmed’ (opens in new tab) that these images are correct. In addition, some of these colors have been shown in other images and the design of the phones is also fully in line with other leaks.

That is, the standard Samsung Galaxy S23 appears to be getting a new camera design, with the Samsung Galaxy S22’s metal body removed so the lenses sit separately. That’s the main visual change we expect.

Analysis: a boring selection, but there is reason to doubt it

While this isn’t the first time we’ve heard these colors for the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, there’s a chance that this leak is wrong or incomplete.

Samsung typically offers a slightly different color selection for its Ultra models than it does for the other phones, so it seems odd that the selections are identical here.

In addition, the company sometimes offers exclusive shades on its site that may not be listed here, and has been known to launch additional shades at a later date as well. So there may be other options.

We certainly hope so, as the Samsung Galaxy S22 series comes in a wider selection of colours, with not only more options but arguably more interesting colours, such as Bora Purple and Burgundy.

All the colors shown here seem slightly dull, muted tones, and while the green model is arguably a bit more interesting, there was also a green option last year, so it’s nothing new. Hopefully more shades will be offered then as that would help these handsets stand out among the best Android phones.
