Leaked Pentagon documents show spies infiltrated Kremlin – while US is spying on its ALLIES

A wealth of leaked documents has revealed the depth of the US espionage apparatus around the world, including its efforts to monitor allied officials and provide the clearest picture yet of the Kremlin’s depleted army.

The documents, dated from late February to early March but only leaked online in recent days, reveal the extent to which US espionage tactics succeeded in infiltrating Vladimir Putin’s war machine.

Now U.S. military officials can provide real-time warnings to their Ukrainian counterparts of impending attacks, indicating their full understanding of the current conflict.

While the leak effectively demonstrated America’s ability to penetrate Moscow’s upper echelons, it has also sparked fears that Russian intelligence now has a better understanding of exactly what the US does and doesn’t already understand, leading them to get the ability to shut down sources of information. .

The leak comes after another batch of classified documents leaked into a suspected Russian plot, in what was described as “a nightmare for the Five Eyes” – a reference to the intelligence-sharing agreement between the United States, Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

In Ukraine, the documents suggested a misalignment between US and Ukrainian military strategies, with intelligence reports appearing to show that the US continues to spy on top military and political leaders in the region.

US officials told the New York Times that while the leak underscores the US’s ability to gather intelligence on Russia’s strategies, it remains to be seen whether their information sources will be hampered by the revelations.

Officials told the outlet that the Pentagon has issued a swift closure of sensitive briefing documents following the leak.

However, the scandal may have further implications for the legitimacy of US espionage.

According to the outlet, a senior Western intelligence official said the release could curb intelligence sharing between agencies as trust in classified information could be lost.

Certainties about the validity of the US military’s espionage apparatus will be further shattered by revelations that America’s focus extends far beyond its Russian enemies.

The documents, posted on social media sites including Twitter and Telegram, show the devastating impact the war in Ukraine has had on both sides.

Despite the Biden administration pumping more than $75 billion into the Ukrainian military, the leak revealed that supplies are severely depleted and it is low on air defense munitions.

One of the leaks, reportedly posted on Telegram, details “a secret plan to prepare and equip nine brigades of the Amed Forces of Ukraine by the US and NATO for the spring offensive.”

The Biden administration has not denied the legitimacy of the leak, but it did claim that certain documents had been tampered with.

An FBI investigation was launched on Friday to identify the source of the leak, but a senior official told The New York Times that tracking down the perpetrator could be difficult because a large number of officials have the necessary security clearances to access the information.
