- Dummy units of the iPhone SE 4 have appeared online
- White and black color options are shown
- The device is expected to look a lot like the iPhone 14
We now don’t have to wait much longer until we see the iPhone SE 4 officially released (although it may be called the iPhone 16E) and newly leaked dummy images show the device’s long-awaited redesign.
These images come from an experienced tipster @SonnyDicksonand we can see the back and sides of the phone in both white and black. The screen isn’t looked at, but since these are dummy units it wouldn’t be a real working screen anyway.
These dummy blocks are created through supply chain sources so that accessory manufacturers – particularly phone case manufacturers – can tailor their products and have them ready to use when the respective devices are unveiled to the world.
Not only do they give third-party accessory manufacturers something to work with, they could also give us an idea of the shape and size of upcoming handsets – and it looks like the next iPhone SE will look very different from its predecessor, which you can read all about in our iPhone SE (2022) review.
A new design
We’ve been hearing for several months now that the iPhone SE 4 will finally ditch the old Apple iPhone design, with the chunky bezels at the top and bottom, the home button and Touch ID for logging into the handset.
Rumor has it that the upcoming device will be heavily based on the iPhone 14 that launched in 2022 (just like the current iPhone SE). That means Face ID and a display notch, and a larger screen size – reportedly up to 6.1 inches from 4.7 inches.
There will likely be plenty of other changes. It’s said that the CPU and RAM could be similar to the iPhone 16 – so the A18 chipset and 8GB of RAM – so the iPhone SE 4 could support the full suite of Apple Intelligence features.
It looks like we could be getting an upgraded single-lens rear camera – as evidenced by this dummy unit leak – and this could also be the first iPhone with a Wi-Fi and 5G chipset from Apple. As for when we can actually get our hands on the phone, a launch date sometime in March is very likely.
