League One club Reading tease club event by posting bizarre clip – with some fans on social media calling the video ‘CRAZY’

  • Reading has sent social media into a frenzy with a bizarre post promoting an event
  • The club are preparing for their second consecutive season in League One

League One club Reading have given a taste of a pre-season social event by posting a bizarre clip of a man being hit by a bus before calmly walking away.

The Berkshire club ended the 2023/24 season, their first back in the Third Division, nine points clear of the relegated side, despite a series of points deductions.

The Royals begin the new League One season on August 10 with an away match against Birmingham City, who were relegated from the Championship last year.

And with the new season in mind, the club bizarrely promoted an event ahead of their first match by sharing the bizarre clip on the club’s X page.

The video in question went viral in 2017, shocking fans on social media with its use.

The crazy video Reading posted on their X account has been viewed over a million times

The video, posted in 2017, went viral and shows a man being hit by a bus in Reading

The clip shows a pedestrian on a street in Reading being hit by a purple bus, causing the bus to go out of control and crash into the ground at high speed.

After the collision, which you would expect to cause serious injuries to the man, he gets up within seconds and walks into a purple store.

The shop in question is in fact a bar known as the Purple Turtle and is an icon for the loyal Royals.

Within half an hour of posting the shocking video, the club shared a follow-up post revealing that they would be hosting a social event at the bar on August 8 in preparation for the season.

Many fans found the video hilarious and the post has been viewed over a million times.

Some fans saw the humor in it, with one social media user saying, “Crazy promo manager, I like it.”

The clip was used to promote the club’s pre-season social event, which takes place in August

However, not all fans were happy with its use. One fan responded on his X account, posting: ‘That’s not appropriate.’

Purple seems to be a theme within the football club, as the team’s third kit was predominantly in this colour last year.

The club has yet to release their third kit for the new season and it remains to be seen whether they will wear this colour again.
