Rep. James Comer launched as chairman of the powerful Oversight committee with letters Wednesday morning lobbying Treasury and Twitter for information on the Biden family’s trade deals.

Comer, R-Ky., wrote a letter to the Sec. of the Treasury. Janet Yellen pressing her on the Biden family’s ‘suspicious business transactions’.

Comer requested to see the Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) that were flagged by US banks regarding the financial activity of Hunter Biden, President Biden’s brother James, and other Biden family associates.

Comer’s committee is investigating the president’s knowledge and role in financial activity and “whether he has compromised our national security.”

Republicans in the last Congress, then in the minority, requested the SARs from the Treasury, which informed the staff that it would only provide the documents if the committee chairs requested them.

Comer also sent letters to former Twitter executives Vijaya Gadde, who served as chief legal officer, Yoel Roth, former global head of trust and security, and James Baker, former general counsel, telling them their testimony was sought at a February 6 hearing. .

“Your assistance is needed due to your role in suppressing Americans’ access to information about the Biden family on Twitter shortly before the 2020 election,” Comer wrote.

“For years, the Biden family sold influence and access around the world for profit, often at the expense of our nation’s interests. The American people need to know the extent of Joe Biden’s involvement in his family’s shady dealings and whether these deals threaten national security and his decision-making as president,” the congressman told DailyMail.com in a statement. release.

Comer claimed on ‘Meet the Press’ on Sunday that his investigation into Hunter Biden’s laptop is not ‘political’ and focuses on the president himself and his involvement.

There are emails and text messages showing Hunter Biden complaining about having to spend so much money to keep his father awake. I mean, that’s a concern because Hunter Biden’s only source of income was from our adversaries in China and Russia for influence peddling,” Comer said.

‘So this is something we should investigate. This is not political. We want to know if the president was telling the truth when he said that he had no knowledge or involvement in his family’s shady dealings. Once we’ve determined that, we’ll move on,” he added.

Last month, with the acquisition of Elon Musk came the ‘Twitter Files’ revealing how a group of top Twitter executives made the decision to censor the Hunter Biden laptop story first reported by the New York Post.

Comer’s letters follow Tuesday as the Oversight Committee launched a pair of investigations into President Biden’s handling of classified files found in his think tank just before the midterms.

The White House confirmed late Monday that Biden’s personal attorneys found “a small number of documents with classified marks” while cleaning the president’s former office at the Penn Biden Center on Nov. 2, 2022.

Comer sent letters to the White House Attorney’s Office and the National Archives and Records Administration, respectively, seeking more information on the matter.
