The lead singer of Grammy-winning rock band Cage The Elephant was arrested Thursday night after police found two loaded firearms in his room at the Bowery Hotel on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, it reported. DailyMail.com.

Matt Shultz, 39, was charged with felony possession of a firearm.

A hotel employee saw Shultz, who was a guest, carrying a handgun in a public restroom on the ground floor Wednesday night.

Officers, responding Thursday morning, knocked on the door of Shultz’s hotel room.

He went out into the hallway and admitted that he had two .45 caliber pistols.

They then asked him if he still had the weapons, and he told police he didn’t know.

That led the police to arrest him and take him to the 9th precinct police station.

A judge granted a search warrant allowing police to enter the room, where they discovered two loaded guns, a Sig Sauer and a Smith & Wesson.

He did not have a firearms license.

Shultz spent the night at the 9th precinct in Lower Manhattan.

On Friday morning he was taken to Bellevue Hospital for medication and then returned to the police station a few hours later.
