Lawmakers reveal what’s most concerning about Iran’s threats to assassinate Donald Trump

Lawmakers in Congress are ‘terrified’ after Donald Trump revealed details of how Iran is planning to kill him.

The ex-president’s campaign said the enemy nation very recently made “real and specific threats” to kill Trump.

The shocking revelations come after Trump received a classified briefing from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI). The 45th president later confirmed on social media that there are “major threats to my life from Iran.”

More worrying was another part of his statement: “Iran has already taken steps that haven’t worked, but they will try again.”

And lawmakers, already grappling with Trump’s two assassination attempts in Pennsylvania and Florida, are now demanding to know what the classified briefing entailed and whether Iran was behind the earlier attempts.

“I read it and talk to him, but I think people find it really terrifying that a foreign government would actually develop a plan,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., a close ally of the former president, told exclusively DailyMail. com.

‘I find that extremely worrying. It definitely takes things to another level.”

Greene also reported confusion surrounding the classified briefings, highlighting how unclear it is whether Iran had any connection to the July 13 shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, or the September 15 attempt in West Palm Beach, Florida.

“I don’t know if it was the two assassination attempts,” the Georgia Republican said. “Maybe there were other things that we don’t know about that were stopped.”

“And I’ll speak for most of the people I know at home: They’re not interested in war right now. Most of the people I know at home want to solve the problems in our country.’

Then she gave a warning.

“We will not tolerate Iran threatening the life of former President Trump or anyone else.”

Rep. Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla., who is a member of the House Task Force investigating the Trump assassination attempts, told DailyMail.com that the committee has asked ODNI to give them a briefing as well.

“I have seen former President Trump’s statement that he posted on Twitter, and as a result of that statement, I believe the task force requested a classified briefing to receive the same information that former President Trump received.”

“We did not receive the same briefing from ODNI,” Moskowitz confirmed.

Washington Democratic Representative Rick Larsen told DailyMail.com: “It’s terrible that the Iranians would do this, if it could be true.”

He said the country “must be ready for the US to increase pressure on Iran given its brazen threats.”

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner, R-Ohio, told DailyMail.com he could not comment on the details of the briefing when pressed Wednesday.

But on Thursday morning he issued a strong statement that seemingly pointed directly at the American and Iranian leadership.

“President Biden and Vice President Harris must make it clear to Iran that any attempt on President Trump’s life would be an act of war,” Turner wrote on social media.

The briefing and resulting questions come days after investigators discovered that Iranian “malicious cyber actors” emailed employees of President Biden’s campaign with information “drawn from stolen, non-public materials from Trump’s campaign” over the summer.

Multiple federal agencies discovered that hackers from Iran had sent emails containing stolen material from Trump’s campaign last week to people involved in Biden’s then-reelection campaign.

Officials portrayed the rift as part of a broader attempt by Tehran to influence the upcoming elections.

“We have encouraged a number of countries, Iran, China and Russia, to interfere in our elections,” Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., told DailyMail.com. ‘This is not the first, the second or the third [attempt].’

He warned that the country has seen their meddling in US elections work before, and that candidate hounding is just the latest implementation of their meddling in US affairs.
