Lauren Boebert’s ex-husband Jayson has been arrested and charged just days after the couple was involved in a domestic violence incident at a Colorado restaurant.

According to court records, Jayson has been charged with assault, disorderly conduct, obstructing a police officer and pointing a firearm.

He was arrested Tuesday, apparently in connection with an incident Saturday involving Boebert, and subsequently released. Jail records show bail was set at $2,500.

Lauren and Jayson Boebert married in 2005 but separated in 2023. But the couple has still made headlines during what appears to be a difficult divorce.

It’s unclear what happened Saturday, but the GOP representative did deny hitting Jayson, the father of four of her sons, during a dinner at Miner’s Claim in Silt.

She did admit that she grabbed him to “stop him” before he called 911.

Lauren and Jayson married in 2005. They met when she was working at McDonald’s at the age of 16. He was 22 at the time.

She was having dinner at Miner's Claim when Jayson, the father of her four children, showed up to apologize for an earlier altercation that had occurred when she went to pick up her son from his home.

Boebert’s campaign released a statement Sunday saying she “did not punch Jayson in the face and no one was arrested.”

She said: ‘I will consult with my lawyer regarding the false claims he has made against me and evaluate all my legal options.’

Police Chief Mike Kite confirmed the investigation Sunday but declined to release details, including who called police.

Officers planned to talk to witnesses and ask restaurant owners about videos that may have captured what happened, Kite said.

The Miner’s Claim restaurant issued a statement Monday saying it is cooperating with the investigation.

“Since its inception, the Miner’s Claim has fully cooperated with law enforcement and intends to continue until this matter is resolved,” the report said.

Jayson told The Denver Post that he called police Sunday morning to say he did not want to press charges.

“I don’t want anything to happen,” Jayson said. “She and I were having a difficult conversation.”

Kite declined to say whether Jayson Boebert made that call.

“This is a sad situation for everyone and another reason why I’m moving,” Boebert added.

Boebert and Jayson married in 2005. They met while she was working at McDonald’s at the age of 16. He was 22 at the time.

But in May 2023, after nearly two decades of marriage, Boebert announced that she had filed for divorce. citing ‘irreconcilable differences.’

She said at the time: ‘It is with a heavy weight on my heart that I have filed for divorce from my husband.

“I am grateful for our years of marriage together and for our beautiful children, who all deserve privacy and love as we work through this process.

“I have always been faithful in my marriage and I believe strongly in marriage, which makes this announcement all the more difficult.”

Boebert, a Republican who served two terms in the U.S. House and represents the western side of Colorado, announced on December 27 that she would switch congressional districts this year to run for a seat representing the eastern side of the state . The seat is open now that Republican U.S. Rep. Ken Buck is retiring.

In her current district, Boebert likely would have faced a Democratic challenger who nearly defeated her in the 2022 general election and far outpolled her.

In September, Boebert and a guest were kicked out of a musical performance of “Beetlejuice” in Denver after guests complained they were vaping, singing, using phones and causing a nuisance. She later apologized.

In her relatively short time in Washington, Boebert has built a national profile and aligned herself with the far-right wing of the Republican Party. Her assertive style has made headlines, especially when she heckled President Joe Biden during his 2022 State of the Union address.
