Lauren Boebert is slammed after launching homophobic attack on Pete Buttigieg saying he was ‘chestfeeding’ instead of reading her letter
- Boebert has found himself in controversy again, this time with ‘Mayor Pete’
- The nature of the attack involved a reference to ‘breastfeeding’
- Boebert and Buttigieg argued over her taking credit for a bridge
Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert was attacked this week for launching a homophobic slur against Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
In response to Buttigieg calling out the Republican for wrongly taking credit for the Glenwood Springs South Bridge in Colorado, Boebert made a comment about “breastfeeding” him.
Buttigieg made history when he became the first gay U.S. Cabinet secretary in 2021, but “breastfeeding” is a term used by many trans men and non-binary people to describe feeding their newborns from the breast area.
“Mayor Pete, you may have been breastfeeding and missed my letter, but I personally wrote to you about this in June 2022,” she said. wrote on X last Wednesday.
Indeed, she wrote a letter to Buttigieg in support of grant funding for the South Bridge. But the Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act was passed in 2021, a year before her letter.

Boebert’s May 22 post, which sparked backlash against her as she runs for re-election. The primary elections in her district will take place on June 25
Moreover, the funding for the South Bridge is Boebert said she secured $51.4 million because it actually came from a provision in that same infrastructure bill, something she voted against because it “wastes hundreds of millions on climate change instead of roads and bridges.”
Boebert’s original posting to Glenwood Springs City Councilman Jonathan Godes taking credit for the bridge took place on May 22.
Buttigieg hit back the same day.
“Congresswoman, how do you think your support has helped this project? We chose it because it’s a good project, and we funded it using President Biden’s infrastructure package, which you voted against,” he wrote on X, quoting her original post.
If Boebert was trying to make a point in her jab at Buttigieg about potentially wasteful spending that was part of the infrastructure bill, it was completely lost in the fuss over her reference to breastfeeding.

Buttigieg reiterated Boebert’s claim to secure the $51.4 million for the South Bridge in Glenwood Springs, and reminded people that she voted against the law that ultimately dispersed that money.

‘All parents do skin-to-skin when their children are born. It is normal. It is very important for parents of adopted children. If you watched yours maybe they wouldn’t go to jail,” one X user wrote.
This refers to Boebert’s son Tyler who was arrested two months ago for theft of property. Boebert refused to attend her son’s hearing this month and wanted to appear at Trump’s hush money trial in New York.
“Let’s talk breastfeeding with #BoboTheHobo, okay?” one X user wrote, attaching the widely circulated video of Boebert groping her date during a Beetlejuice musical.
In fact, many responses combined policy criticism of her with comments about her naughty escapades at a Denver theater in September 2023, including vaping and taking photos during the performance.
“It’s disgusting that you take credit for money you voted against. The most natural thing in the world, Gropert,” one user wrote.
Another wrote: ‘Stick to your theater work, fanatic.’
Boebert decided to switch districts and entered the race to replace outgoing Rep. Ken Buck. She’s been attacked for being a carpetbagger, but has the largest $1 million campaign war chest, Colorado News Line reported in April.
The Colorado primary is scheduled for June 25.
