Lauren Boebert, 36, to become a GRANDMA: Republican reveals her son, 17, and his girlfriend are expecting as she praises teen moms

Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert, 36, shared this week that her 17-year-old son will make her a grandmother next month.

Boebert was shared on video by Patriot Takes speaking at an event hosted by the conservative group Moms for America when she shared the news that her son Tyler and his girlfriend are expecting a child.

“So I am going to tell everyone for the first time in a public place, that not only am I a mother of four children, but in April I will be gigi to a new grandchild. And Jason and I are very excited to welcome this new life into our family,” she said.

Boebert told the crowd that there is “something special about conservative rural communities,” because fewer pregnant teens abort their fetuses compared to those living in cities, studies show.

Rates of “teenage mothers are higher in conservative rural areas, because they understand the value of a life about to be born,” said Boebert, who opposes abortion.

A 2019 study from the American Journal of Public Health suggested that teen birth rates are higher in rural areas due to “local conditions that limit unintended pregnancy management options.”

Since the June Dobbs Supreme Court decision to quash Roe v. Wade, several red state legislatures have passed increasingly restrictive abortion laws.

However, Boebert’s home state of Colorado remains one of six states where abortion remains legal at all stages of pregnancy.

In addition, data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicates that teen mothers are much less likely to complete high school than those without children.

Only about 50 percent of teen moms receive their high school diploma at age 22, compared to 90 percent of women who don’t give birth during their teens.

Boebert was a teenage mother and dropped out of high school her senior year in 2004 when she became pregnant with Tyler, her eldest son.

She completed her GED before being elected to Congress in 2020.

The Colorado Republican joked about being a young mother in her speech to Moms for America.

‘Now, for any of you who have young children who are giving life, there are some questions that come up. There is some fear that comes up,” she said.

“Now my son when I went up to him and said, ‘Tyler, I’m going to be a 36-year-old grandmother. He said, “well, you didn’t make Grandma a 36-year-old Grandma,” Boebert told the crowd. ‘I said, ‘Yes, I did.’ He said: “Well, then he is hereditary.”

“Nice try, mate,” he added.
