Laura Woods quits talkSPORT job and is set to replace Jake Humphrey on TNT Sports
BREAKING NEWS: Laura Woods QUIT her talkSPORT job as breakfast show presenter as she lines up to replace Jake Humphrey as main presenter for BT Sport’s relaunch as TNT Sports
- The presenter has worked for the broadcaster’s program for the past three years
- Woods is preparing to take over TNT’s Champions League coverage next season
- Outgoing BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey was on Saturday for his final show
Laura Woods will be leaving talkSPORT’s Sports Breakfast show, with her final appearance on Wednesday, June 28, the organization has announced.
Woods has hosted the broadcaster’s flagship show for three years, and the 35-year-old will spend time in a role for which the presenter has won multiple awards for her coverage, including Best Speech Breakfast Show at the ARIAS in 2021.
At the end of May, Mail Sport reported that Woods will lead the newly launched TNT Sport Champions League coverage next season, replacing long-serving presenter Jake Humphrey when BT Sport undergoes its summer rebrand.
Woods’ statement after her departure was typically warm and wry, as the Arsenal supporter shared that she would miss ‘Spurs fans’ even after leaving broadcasting.
“You, our listeners, have given me so much comfort and guided me through some of my most difficult moments, without even realizing it,” Woods said. So I want to thank you personally for that. I will miss it very much. Even the Spurs fans.

“For what feels like a lifetime I have been a talkSPORT listener. For the past six years it has been my home, where we spend our mornings talking sports. There’s nothing better. I know I will never find such a job. It’s unique.
‘Three years as presenter of this great breakfast show, three pieces of silverware for the trophy cabinet and record listening figures. I am very proud of what we have achieved here. One thing is certain: I will always be part of this family at talkSPORT.”
Organization head Liam Fisher paid tribute to the popular radio host and her place as “one of the sports media’s brightest stars.”
“Her warmth, knowledge and love of sports permeated and ensured she always connected with our 3.6 million weekly listeners,” Fisher added.
“Her relationship with her fellow presenters such as Ally McCoist and Gabby Agbonlahor and the starry skies she has interviewed as Breakfast host for the past three years have made for a fantastic listening experience every morning. I am happy that Laura will continue to be part of the talkSPORT family.”
In addition to her radio role, Woods has anchored a number of high profile events for other broadcasters including ITV, Amazon Prime and DAZN.
Woods traveled to Qatar with ITV as one of the hosts of their World Cup coverage, and most recently featured for the broadcaster in their coverage of the FA Cup Final between Manchester United and Manchester City.
When announcing her departure from talkSPORT, a flurry of tributes were posted on Twitter from Woods’ colleagues and fans alike.

Outgoing BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey faced the Champions League coverage for the last time on Saturday
While Woods has yet to confirm her involvement in TNT’s coverage of the 2023-24 season, outgoing presenter Jake Humphrey paid tribute at the end of BT Sport’s broadcast after Saturday’s Champions League final.
When he announced he would not be playing a part in the revamped channel, Humphrey called his decade at BT Sport his ‘dream job’.
‘After 10 wonderful years I am taking a step back at BT,’ wrote Humphrey. “As a football fan, hosting Premier League matches, FA Cup matches and European finals has meant everything to me. It has been my dream job. I loved being a very small part of a world-class production team.
“I also feel blessed to have shared the screen with legends of the game and incredible broadcasters, who have become friends. Thanks everyone.’
