‘When I first started on Radio 5 Live, I got comments on Twitter: ‘Why do you have that bimbo on that slot?’ (…) I never really feel like I belong, but who does? As soon as I can add something to the story and take something out of it, I certainly will, and I hope I will do it the best I can.

“I have a great life but I will also call the s**t because I hope I can keep doing this for years to come and it gets better and I gain more strength. I certainly have more power now than I did ten years ago in this industry.”

Laura also revealed that she had met with a therapist early in the process of making documentaries after being offered this, for the first time in her career.

She confessed, “I’ve never had that before and I wish I had done it sooner…for any show.”
