Laura Byrne joins cast of Dancing with the Stars

Laura Byrne confirms she’s ready to kick back on the new season of Dancing with the Stars

KIIS FM’s Laura Byrne has revealed she’ll be kicking her heels for the upcoming season of Channel Seven’s Dancing With the Stars.

The 35-year-old former Bachelor star squealed with joy as she announced the news to her co-hosts Brittany Hockley and Mitch Churi on their show, The pickup on Wednesday.

Laura said she was practicing 25 hours a week to get her moves right for the ratings, which is currently in pre-production and will air later this year.

“I’ve been training like crazy, my butt is literally gone, look how flat it is,” she told her co-hosts, adding, “I’ve got nothing left on me.”

The mother-of-two, meanwhile, admitted that her dancing skills require quite a bit of work.

“I’m so unbelievably bad that I look like a baby giraffe just born. Or like a praying mantis or stick insect when they’re about to move forward and go back and forth before moving.”

Laura said fans can look forward to seeing the former reality star do the jive, with high kicks, in the new season

The TV personality said she couldn’t name her dance partner, but revealed he was a 21-year-old drill sergeant who has never done DWTS but is “desperate to win.”

She also said she couldn’t reveal any of the other contestants, but promised listeners they could look forward to seeing some of the big celebrities.

Laura first rose to fame on season five of The Bachelor with Matty ‘J’ Johnson in 2017.

The couple welcomed daughters Marlie-Mae in 2019 and Lola in February 2021. Matty and Laura married in November 2022.

Daily Mail Australia has revealed that the 2023 season will feature a new line-up of judges

It comes after the Daily Mail Australia revealed earlier this month that the 2023 series will feature a new line-up of judges and contestants who have not yet been seen on the dance floor.

Sources close to production have revealed that Season 20 will not be an All-Stars series as previously reported, but will showcase a new mix of talent.

Sonia Kruger and Daryl Somers will both return as hosts.

Kym Johnson, who previously appeared as a judge between 2013 and 2015, is tipped to return to the series and has been spotted in and out of encounters with Seven.

Australian actress and ex-wife of Sean Penn, Leila George, is a strong contender to star this season, while actress and singer Natalie Bassingthwaighte is also tipped to join the lineup.
