NRL superstar Latrell Mitchell’s agent has threatened legal action after a footy fan claimed the South Sydney fullback refused to take a photo with his grandsons because it was ‘his day off’.
Mitchell, 26, attended a junior rugby league gala day in Penrith in Sydney’s west last Saturday and happily signed a number of autographs, according to his No Limit Boxing representative Matt Rose.
But a disappointed footy fan claims selfies were out of the question for the Souths full-back.
“My (eight-year-old) grandson approached him and asked for a photo but he (Mitchell) said it was his day off,” a long-term Rabbitohs supporter who wanted to be known only as ‘Joe’ told Ben Fordham from 2GB on Tuesday.
‘He refused… my two grandchildren – the other is four – were left devastated.

The Souths star’s manager has threatened a media outlet with legal action over the claims made by the grandfather of two young boys (pictured, Mitchell with Chris Hemsworth)
“He used to be Latrell playing football in the backyard, now he wants to be (Panthers halfback) Nathan Cleary.”
An excited Rose sent Fordham an email claiming that Mitchell was not posing for photos because he was attending the gala day with his family.
“The media coverage of this will (only) push Latrell further away,” Rose fumed.
“If you hire him, (expect) a legal letter on your doorstep.”
Fordham was shocked by the allegations and told his listeners that Mitchell has been known to give up his time with supporters after many NRL matches and pose for numerous photographs.
Meanwhile, Mitchell is expected to withdraw from the Kangaroos squad ahead of the end-of-season Test matches against New Zealand and Samoa in Townsville and Melbourne.
Mitchell has a hand injury that requires surgery and is tipped to inform coach Mal Meninga that we are unavailable for selection.
His withdrawal could allow the likes of Newcastle’s Bradman Best or Broncos’ star Kotoni Staggs to claim an Australian jersey.
Jack Wighton has retired from the representative arena and Valentine Holmes is facing an NRL integrity investigation after posting a photo of himself on social media with what appears to be a bag of white powder in his mouth.
Holmes insists it was a prank gone wrong after the image went viral online.
