Latrell Mitchell releases bizarre line of summer clothing items including budgie smugglers and his own version of the Test cricket Baggy Green cap

  • Owner of the Winmarra clothing line
  • Released a range of summer products
  • Add some very interesting items

South Sydney superstar Latrell Mitchell has released a surprise range of clothing items in time for Christmas, including his own line of parakeet smugglers.

Budgy smugglers, for the uninitiated, in the Australian lexicon refers to tight-fitting swimming trunks or men's swimwear, such as Speedos.

The humorous phrase suggests it looks like you're hiding a budgerigar, a small Australian parrot, in your swimwear, referring to the bulge created by the wearer's genitals.

The term is colloquially used in Australia and was even officially added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 1998.

Now South Sydney fans can buy their own pair of Mitchell “budgy smugglers”, misspellings and all.

Mitchell owns his own clothing brand Winmarra: Connect to Country and has launched the daring swimmers as part of his summer range.

They include the Winmarra slogan, a photo of a parakeet, the Aboriginal flag and the silhouette of Mitchell doing his famous kangaroo ears, a celebration on the front.

'How good are these?' Mitchell posted on Instagram and held up a few swimmers.

“Put some Trellmit parakeets in (sic).”

The parakeet smugglers aren't the only new items Mitchell and Winmarra are releasing.

He has also launched a new green cap that looks suspiciously similar to the famous Baggy Green caps worn by the Australian cricket team.

With Australia's summer of cricket starting on December 14 against Pakistan, this is a timely launch by the Southern superstar.

The Winmarra website describes the green cap as: 'A celebration of style, comfort and the vibrant spirit of the Australian summer.'

'Embrace the warmth of the season with our latest creation, where fashion and tribute come together in a perfect blend of green and yellow.

'The front features a striking yellow Winmarra bull, symbolizing strength, resilience and the bold character of the Australian spirit.

'Attract attention as you walk by with the Winmarra name elegantly embroidered on the back of the cap. This subtle yet impactful detail adds an extra layer of sophistication, making the Winmarra Green Cap a must-have for summer.
