New details have emerged about the Latrell Mitchell scandal after a photo went viral showing the footballer near a white substance.

The leaked photo appears to show the injured Rabbitohs fullback leaning over a table, with his right hand close to the equipment and his left hand in front of his face.

The NRL integrity unit is investigating the star player in relation to the photo, but little information is available on the exact details of the photo.

However, NRL 360’s Buzz Rothfield has shed some light on the episode, revealing that the alleged incident took place last weekend.

“Latrell was in Dubbo last weekend, well done, he was running a coaching course,” Rothfield said on Monday’s show.

“And according to my information… this photo was taken after that clinic.”

The image first came to the attention of Souths and the NRL when a reporter arrived at the Bunnies training session on Monday and began asking questions, according to News Corp.

In a statement to Daily Mail Australia, South Sydney said: ‘The South Sydney Rabbitohs have been made aware of a photo circulating on social media of Latrell Mitchell following his appearance in person in Dubbo over the weekend.

‘The Club has notified the NRL Integrity Unit of the photo.

‘The Rabbitohs do not wish to comment further at this time.’

The NRL confirms that it is aware of the distribution of the image.

Mitchell has been sidelined in recent weeks due to a foot injury he sustained against Parramatta on July 4.

He was in the stands but did not play during the Bunnies’ 28-16 defeat to the Storm at Homebush last Thursday evening.

The club are still unsure whether he will be able to play again this year, despite doctors deciding he will not need a season-ending operation on his left foot.

It has been a difficult season for Mitchell and Souths, with the club struggling and him battling injuries and poor form.
