We’ve been patiently waiting for the successors to the Google Pixel Buds Pro, which hit the market in May 2022. A series of recent leaks have suggested that the next versions of the wireless earbuds could be coming to market soon.
The first leak worth mentioning comes from Android Headlinesand shows off high-quality, unofficial renders of the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2. They appear to come in a slightly larger housing, but are largely the same as last time around.
As for the earbuds themselves, it looks like they’re getting a slight redesign, with a new bump near the eartip – perhaps to add some extra stabilization. It’s a throwback, of sorts, to the design of the original Pixel Buds.
We also get a look at all four colors the Pixel Buds Pro 2 are expected to launch in: Charcoal, Porcelain, Aloe (to match the Pixel 8a), and Hot Pink. The Pixel Buds Pro currently come in Charcoal, Porcelain, Bay, Fog, Lemongrass, and Coral.
Price increases
In addition, there is a separate leak of Dealabs (through 9to5Google) may also give us an idea of the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2’s price: they’re expected to cost $229 / £219 (around AU$350), or €249 in Europe.
For comparison, the Pixel Buds Pro cost $199 / £179 / AU$299 at launch, though we’ve seen several discounts since then. It appears the new earbuds will cost you a little more than the pair they replace.
This all comes just a few days after another leak revealed the design of the Pixel Buds Pro 2 and its carrying case. The increasing frequency of these leaks suggests that the wireless earbuds may not be far away from an official release.
With Google already scheduling a hardware launch event for Tuesday, August 13, that seems like an ideal time to unveil the Pixel Buds Pro 2, though the main stars of the show are expected to be the Google Pixel 9 phones.
