Last of three alleged Palen Creek Correctional Centre escapees caught

The last of three inmates reportedly escaping prison and on the run is finally apprehended after a two-day manhunt

A third escaped prisoner has been caught, ending a days-long manhunt after he and two other prisoners escaped from a Queensland prison.

Antonio David Mene is said to have escaped from the Palen Creek Correctional Center on Sunday, about 100 km southwest of Brisbane.

The 28-year-old was found by police around 3pm on Tuesday in the rural town of Ravenshoe, about 75 miles southwest of Cairns and nearly 1,200 miles from the prison where he was held.

Mene will appear before Cairns Magistrates Court on Wednesday on a charge of escape from lawful custody.

He served three years for traffic violations.

Two other detainees, aged 32 and 20, were apprehended at Northgate in northern Brisbane around 10am on Monday.
