An incident on the sidelines of the final football game of the University of Florida regular season has led a former junior college coach who made headlines through a Netflix show to speak out.

Jason Brown, one of the main stars of the ‘Last Chance U’ series, took to Twitter to complain about Florida head coach Billy Napier.

These issues stem from a video of Gators freshman wide receiver Eugene Wilson III punching the arm of graduate assistant coach David Doeker.

That incident came late in a game between hated rivals Florida State, where Doeker appeared to grab the back of Wilson’s jersey as he tried to get onto the field.

Furious, Wilson turned around, punched Doeker’s arm away and walked onto the field anyway.

That led Brown to proclaim that Napier has “no control” over his players in Florida

Brown couldn’t believe what he saw and posted: ‘These kids have gone fucking crazy! How he just walked back onto the field and played as if nothing had happened! Napier has no control.”

The 24-15 loss likely doomed Florida to a season without a bowl appearance, as the team finished 2023 at 5-7. Teams with that record are rarely included in a bowl, but only do so if not enough others finish with a 6-6 mark.

Brown rose to fame, or rather fame, for his role as the brash head coach of Independence Community College in Kansas in seasons three and four of the Netflix hit show “Last Chance U.”

While the show highlighted how players moved from the junior college (or JUCO) ranks to the attention of major colleges, it was Brown himself who became known for his tough attitude.

At the end of season four, it was revealed that Brown had sent problematic text messages to a freshman from Germany, saying the coach would be the “new Hitler” in the player’s life. Brown has resigned from his position.

As a result, Brown was charged with eight felonies related to blackmail and identity theft after he allegedly posed as a lawyer who sent cease-and-desist letters to news outlets so that they would stop reporting on the aforementioned text fiasco.

In 2021, these charges were dismissed. Brown subsequently moved on to other ventures and has not returned to the coaching ranks.
