Lashana Lynch details ‘surprisingly chill’ first encounter she had with former co-star Daniel Craig before starring in James Bond movie together
Lashana Lynch has described the ‘surprisingly chill’ first meeting she had with her former Bond co-star Daniel Craig.
The actress, 36, who stars in the upcoming The Day Of The Jackal thriller, recalled what she really thought of Daniel, 56, when she first met him at auditions.
Most people would be nervous about meeting the Hollywood legend, but instead Lashana said it was “the most chill auditions she’s ever had,” thanks to Daniel.
Lashana played Nomi, the new 007 agent, alongside Daniel as retired 007 agent James Bond, in No Time to Die in 2021.
Speaking to Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett on Waitrose’s Dish podcast this week, Lashana recalled how 007 film producer Barbara Broccoli asked her to meet Daniel during her first audition.

Lashana said, ‘I gAnother phone call to make another tape, and I thought, what’s that? Like what is it?… By then you knew it was something… But then she just skipped the tape and said, I just want you to come in and meet Daniel.
‘I thought, “as in Danny Craig?” Yeah, so we went to Pinewood Studios and read a few scenes.
‘And it was lovely, and actually very nice and chill. Probably one of the most chill auditions I’ve ever had. Because sometimes they’re like, eee!
“And I’m like, I care so much, so I’m like, ‘I learned them! And I taught them mom!’ And then I forget my lines and I’m like, “Sorry, I’m just overwhelmed!”
“Um, so that went well, and then they asked me back four days later?… And it was something similar.
‘By the way, I didn’t know about the whole 007 thing at this point. Like I thought, ooh, I might be in a Bond movie, that’s great.’
Lashana also addressed rumors that she could be the next Bond girl.
She said:Don’t know. I just don’t know if the world knows what the world looks like.

‘I think it’s an exciting idea. And a revolutionary idea, I feel like people would say, “Yeah, wait a minute, what does that mean?” And then: what does it mean for her?
‘And what does it mean for the franchise? And like, for me as a fan, I’ve been a fan for fifty years and what does that mean, with my belief in this franchise?
“I think it raises so many questions, you know? Don’t know. By the way, I don’t have a contract.’
