Lara Trump has insisted her father-in-law, President-elect Donald Trump, is a “champion of women” and said she wouldn’t be where she is today without him.
Lara, 42, is getting ready to stand next to Trump at his second inauguration later this month, but she’s not done with her role as Trump’s champion to all Americans, including women voters.
“This is a man who cares about women,” assured Lara, who is married to Trump’s son Eric New York Post.
“And I tell you that as a woman who came into this family… from a background where I had no contact with the Trump family – meaning a business family whose name people knew around the world.
“Donald Trump helped me get where I am today. And he is a constant champion for the women he surrounds himself with.”
To make her point, she praised how Trump has plenty of “great examples of strong women” around him, including his new chief of staff Susie Wiles, press secretary Karoline Leavitt, Cabinet picks Kristi Noem and Linda McMahon, and attorney Alina Habba.
“I think that’s what people who get to know Donald Trump appreciate [how] “He doesn’t care what you look like, he doesn’t care what your religion is, he doesn’t care what your gender is, he doesn’t care who you love,” she told The Post.
‘He thinks it is important whether or not you can do your job to the best of your ability. It’s something I appreciate as a woman because I never want anyone to give me a job because of my gender.”

During early voting, many women went to the polls and voted against the then-Republican candidate, causing tension in the Trump camp.
Since 2016, Trump has widened his lead over men but has failed to win as many female voters.
Days before the November election, he had a 22-point lead over Vice President Kamala Harris among male voters.
However, Harris, who lost the popular vote by 2.2 million, had a 14-point lead among female voters ahead of the 2024 race, a DailyMail.com/JL Partners poll showed.
Harris even attacked Trump on his views on women during a stop in Phoenix, Arizona, on her campaign trail, telling the crowd, “He simply does not respect women’s freedom or women’s intelligence to know what is in their own best interest is. and make decisions accordingly. But us [at Harris-Walz] trust women.’
Trump had leaned into the divide, turning his attention to podcasts with a predominantly male audience, including those suggested by his son Barron.
Despite losing Harris, Lara believes she will see a female president in her lifetime, but she does not want her to be elected solely based on her gender – an issue she believes derailed Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign.
“Hillary Clinton tried to tell everyone to vote for her because she was a woman: ‘Don’t you want to see a woman as president?’ she said.

“There are a lot of women right now that I can think of who I would consider voting for for president. But once you break it down and use that as the reason why people should vote for you, I think you lose a lot of people.”
“I actually believe our first female president will be a Republican,” said Lara, who recently declined to seek a Senate seat.
Lara also shared the moment she had to tell her two small children that their grandfather had survived an assassination attempt before they left for summer camp.
“So [on a] On Sunday evening I had to sit them down and tell them that something had happened to Grandpa. “He’s doing fine, but he has a bandage on his ear,” the North Carolina native recalled telling them.
‘I knew they would see him the following week, at the [Republican National] Convention. But it was very difficult to tell a four-year-old and a six-year-old that someone had tried to hurt his grandfather.”
She also revealed that the family calls Elon Musk — Trump’s appointment as co-head of the Department of Government Efficiency — “First Buddy.”
“Every time I go to Mar-a-Lago, he’s there,” said Lara, who also lives in Florida. “And it’s a bit of a joke, but he’s in on the joke.
‘He’s great. Who wouldn’t want one of the brightest minds of our time in the circle of people doing good for this country? It really seems like he wants his legacy to be that he was able to achieve the unachievable. And the good news is that we can reap the benefits.

During a recent trip to Mar-a-Lago, Lara wowed her in-laws and Musk by singing a hit on stage at Trump’s New Year’s Eve party.
The former RNC co-chair publicly released her version of the popular song “I Won’t Back Down” earlier this year.
