Lara Trump reveals how father-in-law Donald reacted when she decided against running for the Senate

Donald Trump was not happy when daughter-in-law Lara decided she did not want to run for Florida’s opening Senate seat.

Lara Trump told DailyMail.com that she thinks her father-in-law became less interested in running the lottery to fill the seat after withdrawing her name from the running last month.

“The only person Donald Trump wanted to see there was probably me,” she explained when asked who she thinks is his preference now that she isn’t an option.

Trump added, “He was a little upset when I said that, you know, ‘I’m not going to do it now.’

Her name was floated as the top choice to replace Florida Senator Marco Rubio as he prepares to leave office once confirmed as the next secretary of state.

The president-elect said Lara, who is married to his son Eric, was his favorite to get the job.

“Would you support Lara Trump to replace Marco Rubio in the Florida Senate?” Trump posted on X on December 4.

The social media survey found that 75.8 percent of respondents said they wanted to see her in the role.

But last month, the former co-chair of the Republican National Committee said she would “remove my name from consideration for the United States Senate,” but looking ahead to announcing her next career move later in January.

It’s unclear what’s next for Lara Trump, but the president-elect’s daughter-in-law spoke to DailyMail.com about her new fitness clothing line and releasing new music this year.

She also said she will make an announcement about her career after her inauguration, assuring, “You will see more of me, not less of me.”

“For some people, that’s a great thing,” she acknowledged. “Some people might not like that.”

It will be up to Florida’s Republican governor, Ron DeSantis, to appoint the person who will be the next senator once Rubio steps down.

When asked who she thinks Trump now favors for the seat, Lara admitted, “I haven’t talked to him about who he thinks would be the right person.”

“As for Governor Ron DeSantis, I would say I believe he will pick a great person,” she noted. “And I think what’s amazing is that he has really great names in terms of people who could potentially fill that seat.”

“I think he has run this state very successfully,” she said of the governor who challenged Trump for the 2024 Republican Party nomination. “He is one of the reasons why Eric and I took our whole family to Florida moved because we did a great job here. and has done an excellent job as governor.”

“I think his instincts will probably lead him in the right direction,” she concluded.

Some claim that former Rep. Matt Gaetz took the seat after resigning from the House of Representatives and also withdrawing his name from consideration as Trump’s attorney general.

Some argue that former Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz would be a consideration for the Senate seat after resigning from the House of Representatives when newly elected President Trump appointed him as his attorney general.

Gaetz dropped out of the race to become AG after a smear campaign emerged against him over allegations of sexual misconduct and assault related to the House Ethics investigation into his past conduct.

“That would be an interesting move to leave the House of Representatives and then suddenly become a senator,” Lara Trump told Gaetz’s DailyMail.com.

“Look, I think Matt Gaetz is great,” she continued. “I think he’s a true America First patriot. I think he has been a great ally to my father-in-law.”

“When you’re considering the right person to fill the seat, you want someone who has the same priorities, who has the same goals for this country,” Lara Trump said. “And I think that’s one of the reasons he was considered a possible attorney general.”

“So if it’s him, that would be great. I’d love to see that.’

Gaetz has just started in his new role as an anchor at the conservative One America News Network, where he sported a shorter haircut and changes to his facial features that led people to speculate he had work done.
