Lance ‘Un’ Rivera insists Jay-Z never stabbed him in 1999…despite plea: ‘He’s a nice guy’

Former Music Director Lance ‘Un’ Rivera sat down with VladTV this week for a bombshell interview, stating that Jay-Z didn’t stab him in 1999.

Known for his close association with the rapper Biggie Smalls, Rivera was stabbed at the now-closed Kit Kat Club in Times Square, resulting in a media frenzy that eventually prosecuted Jay-Z for the crime.

The iconic mogul — who just bought a beach house for $200 million — initially maintained his innocence before pleading guilty to assault charges after a protracted two-year legal battle that resulted in three years of probation and his early career being affected.

But 24 years after the incident, Rivera says Jay-Z isn’t the one who stabbed his back at an album release party.

“No,” Rivera said. “Jay-Z wasn’t the guy who stabbed me that night.”

Jay-Z was reportedly identified as the stabbing by witnesses at the Kit Kat Club, but Rivera remains baffled as to why they thought the Empire State of Mind hitmaker was his attacker: “I don’t know where people have Jay-Z stabbing me from …’

At the time of the stabbing, members of the rap community accused Rivera of selling Jay-Z’s fourth studio album, Vol. 3… Life and Times of S. Carter – an allegation he vehemently denies.

But Rivera said Jay-Z believed the rumors and was “heartbroken” over Rivera’s alleged betrayal, which led to his album being bootlegged.

Recalling their long relationship with Vlad TV, Rivera told the outlet that he and Jay-Z knew each other “from the street.”

He eventually described the stabbing at the nightclub: “I ended up being surrounded by a bunch of people, there were probably ten knives I knew of, and I ended up getting stabbed at the Kit Kat club.”

Prior to the stabbing, Rivera spoke about Jay-Z confronting him about his alleged role in leaking the album.

“Me and Jay-Z were having a conversation right before I got hit on the head with a champagne bottle,” Rivera explains. “It was a short conversation and I looked at him like, ‘What are you talking about?’

He added, “He kept saying,” “You broke my heart, you broke my heart,” and I thought, “What are you talking about?”

He also concluded that if Jay-Z had stabbed him, the legendary artist might not be here today: “If Jay-Z had stabbed me, you guys wouldn’t have gotten the Black album.” You know, throughout my history I’ve been an eye-for-an-eye type.’

Rivera said Jay-Z was “embroiled in a power struggle” and shared how fellow rapper Nas has also spoken out about the incident.

In his 2001 diss track Ether, Nas alluded to Jay-Z taking the blame for a friend.
