A Melbourne businessman has hit out at a couple who complained after winning a $4.2 million home he donated and accused him of removing $100,000 worth of belongings.
Adrian Portelli, known for his flamboyant lifestyle and luxury cars, bought the house in Gisborne, 54km north-west of Melbourne, in November after it was auctioned off on reality TV series The Block.
He then placed the house as the star prize through his lottery company LMCT+, which was won by Kevin and Andrea Griffin from Ballarat, Victoria.
But the couple were left disappointed when they were shown around the house, pointing out flaws and wondering where some of the furniture had gone.
Portelli, known as Mr. Lambo, then decided to hold a $1 raffle for all items removed from the home, with winners announced Thursday.
“Holy shit, look at all that furniture … that was left in the house,” he said, standing in front of a screen showing video from inside the $4.25 million home.
Adrian Portelli has brazenly pointed out “all the furniture” left behind in a $4.2 million home he donated to a couple who accused him of removing $100,000 worth of items.
CCTV footage had shown Mr Portelli removing luxury items before handing over the keys – including a robo-mower, treadmill, wine, Smeg appliances and a BBQ smoker.
But Mr Portelli said the luxury extras were only used for staging for promotional videos and not part of the prize under the lottery’s terms and conditions.
After announcing the raffle, Mr Portelli said he wanted the items to go to ‘someone who will be grateful and deserving’.
He claimed that all proceeds from the raffle would go to support the homeless charity.
“Because we’re talking about how many people out there are going to be just grateful to have a roof over their heads, let alone a $4.3 million furnished mortgage with no down payment,” he said.
‘So what’s the best way to get you guys involved. We’re going to get rid of this, someone will win it for $1 and all the proceeds will go towards changing the lives of people who will be grateful just to have a better night.’
Lucky couple Kevin and Andrea Griffin, who won a $4.2 million house featured on The Block, claim their dream lottery win has turned into a nightmare after they were stripped of key items.
A Toyota LandCruiser was also up for grabs in the South Australian and Queensland two-person draw taking home the prizes.
Many took the opportunity to mock Mr. Portelli, joking that the car would come without all the tires.
“I bet it won’t have wheels when I get it,” joked one.
“Can you give a full list of every part on the 4×4 so I don’t miss anything,” joked another.
Portelli’s other Instagram posts have been inundated with comments asking where the ‘wine fridge’ is, after Ms Griffin repeatedly complained it had been removed.
The Griffin family have accused Adrian ‘Lambo Guy’ Portelli of taking more than $100,000 worth of goods from the home before delivering them to them.
Thousands of people have blasted the couple after their story went viral – with most saying the pair were ungrateful and the type to ‘scream if they won the lotto’.
‘Wow, nerves! The things they’re angry about are replaceable and definitely not worth 100k,” one said.
“Even just having a house without any appliances is still a blessing from heaven. Let alone $4 million,” said another commenter.
“Give it away then or just be happy with what you have,” added a third.
‘This is a joke right? How ungrateful!’ said one particularly frustrated commenter.
