The Carolina Panthers have released cornerback Lamar Jackson due to injury.
On Monday, Darin Gantt of the Panthers’ official website reported that the 26-year-old player has been waived.
The decision came after Jackson suffered an injury during Saturday’s 15-12 preseason loss to the New York Jets. If Jackson is not claimed on waivers, he will return to the Panthers’ injured list and miss the entire 2024 season.
However, if both sides reach a settlement on the injury this year, he would not be sidelined for the first part of the season in Charlotte.
The former Nebraska CB joined the Panthers this offseason after stints with the Jets, Chicago Bears and Denver Broncos.

He joined the Bears on a reserve/future contract on January 19, 2022, but was released by the Windy City on November 27.
Two days after being released by the Bears, Jackson signed to the Broncos’ practice squad and was promoted to the active roster on December 31. He was released by Denver on March 20, 2023.
Jackson’s last stop before landing in Carolina was with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he was a practice player from May through August 2023.
On January 8 of this year, he signed a reserve/future contract with the Panthers.
