Athletic Bilbao captain Iker Muniain finds himself in a love triangle with a fellow LaLiga star after his ex-wife took to social media to announce her new relationship over Christmas.

Muniain and Andrea Sesma had been married since 2017, had been together for several years before that and had two children together, but decided to spend time on their relationship four years later.

Little is known about the circumstances surrounding their split, with the couple keen to keep details under wraps, although they still follow each other on social media.

Sesma, an influencer, was then reportedly dating Spanish film actor Miguel Angel Silvestre after the pair were spotted in Madrid the following year, but her most recent social media posts confirm she is now with another football star.

And Sesma chose to announce the news with a staged rom-com style Instagram film, filmed in London, as she celebrated the holidays away from home.

It starts with Sesma walking away from the camera as she films herself, before the player in question – Getafe midfielder Luis Milla – bumps into her and drops her coffee cup on the floor.

The pair then look at each other for a moment, before embracing and sharing a kiss for the camera, seemingly confirming their new relationship with their followers.

Milla herself also posted a series of loving photos of the couple on Instagram a few days later, with the caption: 'From London with love'.

Fans were quick to send their congratulations to the new happy couple, while fellow footballer and friend of the couple Gerard Deulofeu also took to social media.

“London and love,” the former Watford and Everton striker wrote on Milla's post.

Muniain is a former Spain international and has played twice for his country after a long youth career for La Roja, although he has also represented the unofficial Basque team four times, scoring twice.

During his time with the Under-21s he broke the record for appearances with 31 caps, but Deulofeu later improved his tally.

The forward, born in Pamplona in the Basque Country, has played his entire senior career for Athletic Bilbao, having joined the club as a 12-year-old in 2005.

With 548 appearances to date, Muniain only needs 66 more to move level with club legend Jose Angel Iribar as the club's record holder.

As for Milla, the 29-year-old is yet to represent Spain at any level but has emerged as an important figure for Getafe in recent years.

Since joining from Granada at the start of 2022/23, he has made 39 appearances, recording five assists, but is yet to score his first goal for the club.

He now joins Mason Greenwood and Co in eighth place in LaLiga in what has been impressive early form for the Azulones.
