Lakeland crash: Two people dead after station wagon veers off the road and rolls several times in Far North Queensland

Two people have been killed after a station wagon crashed on a Queensland highway.

The station wagon came off the road Wednesday around 3:45 p.m. while traveling north on the Mulligan Highway near Lakeland, near the Boggy Creek Bridge.

The car then rolled several times, killing the driver and one passenger on the spot.

A man who suffered significant injuries to his pelvis, head and chest was taken to Cairns Hospital in a critical condition.

Three other passengers were taken to Cooktown Hospital with minor injuries.

A helicopter and two paramedics arrived on scene.

Investigations are underway.
