LAFC keeper Maxime Crepeau breaks his LEG during a horror challenge against Cory Burke in the MLS final…with Canadian stopper red carded on stretcher and will now MISS the World Cup in Qatar
LAFC goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau broke his leg in the MLS Cup final on Saturday, making a late challenge to deny a goal in extra time.
The Canadian goalkeeper put on a brash challenge to knock out Cory Burke on the edge of the area after the Philadelphia player raced on an underhit backpass.
It was certainly a foul, but Crepeau came off worse. Both players were injured, but Crepeau’s leg appeared broken as he rolled onto the grass in pain.
After a long stoppage, Crepeau was taken off the field on a stretcher and was shown a red card for his challenge.
He held up his thumb and seemed to indicate that despite his injury, he was not in too much pain.
Still, broadcaster FOX decided not to show a repeat of the incident.
