Lady Gaga decided to go makeup-free for her 2023 Oscars performance on Sunday night.
The 36-year-old Poker Face singer took the stage at the event to sing her Grammy and Oscar-nominated song Hold My Hand from the Best Picture-nominated film Top Gun: Maverick.
The star’s fans were quick to notice the lack of makeup on her face, which was in stark contrast to the full face she rocked on the red carpet and while sitting in the audience.
Her makeup artist, Sarah Tanno, shared a behind-the-scenes look at the “aftermath” of removing Gaga’s makeup before her performance.
The day after the event, Tanno offered a glimpse of what was behind the 360 transformation, which didn’t seem simple.
Before and after: The star arrived on the red carpet wearing heavy makeup, but then took the stage barefaced

A photo shared on her Instagram stories showed a collection of dirty makeup wipes, cotton swabs and circular pads that were used to remove the Born This Way singer’s full beat.
Tanno captioned the photo: ‘The Aftermath,’ then credited InStyle below the image.
Before the drastic transformation, Gaga hit the red carpet in a see-through dress that showed off her tattooed behind.
She also seemed to go like a commando in her jaw-dropping dress, which was pulled from the Versace runway just days after Gigi Hadid wore it on the runway.
Her face was full of glamour, complete with smoky eyes, heavy eyeliner, mascara, and her plump pout was glossed in hot crimson.
Several products that Tanno decorated Gaga with were achieved using Gaga’s brand of makeup. Haus Laboratorieswhich is known for its high impact, high color products.
When it came time for her performance, the Shallow hitmaker opted for a completely stripped-down look.
She paired her bare face with an equally simple outfit, which included a black T-shirt and a pair of black jeans with rips at the knees.

Red Carpet Moment: Before the drastic transformation, Gaga hit the red carpet in a sheer dress that showed off her tattooed behind.
The beauty also sported her blonde locks parted from her face in a French braid. She also wore the braid to the red carpet, but by the time she took the stage, the pieces had started to fall off and she made no move to fix it.
Despite her amazing vocal performance, fans seemed to mainly focus on the lack of makeup and how fresh and clean her face looked.
One lingering question remained: What product did Gaga and her team use to remove all their glam in such a short time?
Unfortunately, Tanno didn’t reveal any of the products she used in her short Instagram post.
An interview he did with harper’s bazaar in 2019 it could give fans an idea of what the products could be.
“I like to give it a touch of the old school, I like the Lancôme Bi-Facil,” he mentioned as a reference product for makeup removal.
‘Also, argan oil, Gaga taught me that. If you have a lot of eye makeup or waterproof products, straight up argan oil is great for removing it all and melting it away. I learn a lot from her!
