Lady Gaga is appointed co-chair of arts committee by President Joe Biden
President Joe Biden will appoint pop superstar Lady Gaga to co-chair the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities with film producer Bruce Cohen.
The 80-year-old president made the announcement Thursday in an official press release that also included a list of the commission’s A-list members, such as George Clooney and Kerry Washington.
Gaga, 37, has aligned herself with President Biden over the years sang the famous national anthem at his inauguration ceremony in 2021.
The pair joined forces in 2016 to promote the “It’s On Us” campaign, which addresses the issue of sexual assault on college campuses.
The President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities (PCAH) was established in 1982 under the Ronald Reagan administration to advise the president on cultural policies to “strengthen federal support for the arts, humanities, and museum and library services,” according to the White House.

“Over the past 40 years, PCAH has catalyzed federal programs and played a critical role in advancing arts and humanities education, cultural diplomacy, and the creative economy.”
The committee consists of members who are directly appointed by the chairman.
The “private” members are prominent artists, scientists, and philanthropists, while the “public” members “represent the heads of major federal agencies with a role in culture.”
Historically, the First Lady has served as Honorary President.
The committee was revived by President Biden last September after former President Donald Trump failed to renew the executive order in 2017.
Gaga’s co-chair Bruce Cohen is an Academy Award-winning producer associated with some of Hollywood’s most famous films, including American Beauty (1999), Milk (2008), and Tim Burton’s Big Fish (2003).
Other notable committee members include musician Jon Batiste, Grey’s Anatomy creator/producer Shonda Rhimes, acclaimed guitarist Joe Walsh, Alias star Jennifer Garner, and Oscar-winning actor Troy Kotsur.
Last year, Batiste performed at President Biden’s first state dinner, which was attended by the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
